Clinical Pastoral Education

First, lest we start many rumors, Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is formation for pastoral care but is not preparation for ordination.  CPE is available to any who would want to experience a deepening in the ability to provide pastoral care for those who are ill or in need.

CPE involves a balance that includes 9 hours of class time for the participants and approximately 16 hours of clinical service.  The class time includes presentations, reflections and presentation of ver batims.  The class times become a time to reflect upon the experiential education of doing direct patient care.

My CPE group is a total of five wonderful people.  I have been so blessed by those in my group for this semester.  We are able to have honest and forthright conversation under the leadership of a CPE supervisor who is very insightful.

In CPE I am asked to establish and monitor learning goals for the semester.  Now the process continues.
