What to Bring On a Pilgrimage
Pilgrims travel lite and pilgrims travel with the intent that no trace is left behind, except for the trace of enriched human relationships. Pilgrims want to impact people and want to be impacted by people. Pilgrims want to leave a positive impact upon the environment.
Here are some items that we recommend you bring with you:
ESSENTIALS
- Passport (must not expire within six months of the pilgrimage)
- Photocopies of passport and other documents
- Bank Card that has a pin number compatible with European ATM machines. Travelers checks and cash are not recommended.
- Student ID (many discounts available for those who are students)
- Address Book and Emergency Contacts
- Travel Insurance
- Eyeglass prescription/supplies
- Journal/Travel diary
- Sacred Scriptures (Old and New Testament)
GUIDEBOOKS
- Pilgrimage Itinerary
- Phrase or Language Dictionaries
- Travel Guide (e.g. Fodor’s, etc.)
EQUIPMENT
- Pack lite. If you bring it you carry it. Airlines charge for extra luggage so pack accordingly. Plan to layer clothing.
